The world No5 Stan Wawrinka failed to show his best tennis, but managed to win in three sets against Albert Ramos-Vinolas with 7:5, 6:4, 7:6 (6) and to qualify for the second round of the US Open.
Wawrinka started in New York in searching for his third Grand Slam title after earlier in the season triumphed at "Roland Garros" and early last year lifted the trophy of the Australian Open.
The Swiss had to recover breakthrough liability in the first two sets, but in both cases was able to deal with the task.
In the final by bestsoccceradvice third set, the Spaniard broke again, but Wawrinka showed class and broke back, making things up to tiebreak, where impose his will.
