Nishikori for the first time in the quarterfinals in Paris

The fifth placed Kei Nishikori for the first time in his career reached the quarterfinal of "Roland Garros" after beat the Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili with 6: 3, 6: 4, 6:2 in less than two hours of play in Paris.

Nishikori dominated the game completely in the court "Suzanne Lenglen." He began with an early break for 2:0. At 5:2 the game was stopped for 10 minutes because of rain. Until the end of the set, Kei had no problems.

In the second, the Asian made a break for 2: 1 and then another for 4:1. Gabashvili, who is 74 in the world, gave back one break at 3:5. In the last game, Nishikori won at zero and took the second set.

There was no change in the balance of power in the final set. The Japanese lead with 4:1 for the quarter hour. In 2:5 Gabashvili served to stay in the game. Nishikori came twice to match point, but Gabashvili save them. Then Kei served for a place in the quarterfinals. Again, a good point to win the match and this time succeeded after ball into the opponent`s net.

So, Nishikori became the first Japanese in the quarterfinals in Paris since 1933. His next opponent is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
